Design Guidelines : Ceiling Fans

Ceiling Fans can be used in a pool room environment as long as the National Electric Code (NEC) is met. NEC states that all electrical and ceiling fans must be located a minimum of 7 feet above pool water.

Ceiling Fans must be in reverse or blowing up- NEVER DOWN IN A POOL ROOM.

CEILING FANS can do the following:

1. When used in a room with high ceilings (14-30 feet+), cupelo, dormers, etc. that cannot be reached with the ductwork system, ceiling fans blowing up, can help to break up the stratification of moist air that occurs when the open pool gives off moisture or evaporation
   
   
2. When skylights have been designed into a pool and are surface mounted or recessed into the structure, in some cases, ductwork cannot be installed up in this area. If not, ceiling fans placed between skylights so that the paddles of the ceiling fan can “push” or move air up into the skylight, will help to prevent condensation from forming in the skylights. 
   
   
3. Size and number of ceiling fans will be determined by the size of the skylights and how far apart they are from one another.
